EXPERIMENT 3_THEORY

THEORY Text from Article Functionality and simplicity of materials were the starting points for planning this villa in a northern neighborhood of Tel Aviv. The house was planned as a basic geometric structure – a combination of two raw-concrete boxes on top of each other. Each box has seemingly random openings, and an external shading system that rotates and opens electronically, so that the dynamic façade change with residents’ needs, the time of day, and the weather. Concept 1  Adaptability ( forming new structure over already functional ones ) by Studio Gang Inspired by this phrase I have created dynamic structure on the top of the existing one to form a curved and creative space which is mainly emphasized on community spaces for light rail stop. Concept 2 Prism based geometries and repetition of shapes Inspired by this phrase I have designed a marble like structure over the light rail stop and have made a combination with the use of glasses ( Mies Van Der Rohe is famous for use of glass ) to create reflections when sun penetrates it. Theme Since all different types of materials are put together,  the overall design presents theme_ the multicultural students and staff who study or work at UNSW. These texture designs are inspired by the open spaces created by Studio Gang. This texture is inspired by the marble like glasses designed by Mies Van Der Rohe.
